My son poem
I can’t sleep, don’t want too.
All my thoughts are surrounding you.
I feel helpless with this guy giving you a hard time,
This part shouldn’t be part of your crime.
I hate this deal you had to take,
It haunts me every moment I’m awake.
No one understands- that’s for sure,
I honestly don’t know if I can endure.
I try to talk, but no one can hear,
It’s like they don’t understand the real value of a year.
I’m lost, confused, mad and sad,
I’m so sorry I chose your deadbeat dad.
I wish so many things for you,
I want this to be behind us- that’s true.
Oh GOD, please get me through.
I’m trying one minute at a time,
All I have is a piece of paper and my rhymes.
I need to vent, so I can survive,
It’s like I can’t function until you arrive.
I hate the punishment that you face,
It all seems like such a waste.
My head is spinning and my heart is shattered,
But to only me does that seem to matter.
I wish so much my grandparents could give me their thought,
It sure wouldn’t be to sit and rot.
They believed in me more than anyone every would,
They taught me to be all I could.
They would want me to be all you need,
SO, it’s from their example that I lead.
I hope they see me and are proud,
I often picture them above the clouds.
I know they believe you will be a great man,
See, they know this is all part of God’s plan.
One day at a time, you will become who you are supposed to be,
You are so very much like me.
I prayed this night, and spoke to your grandparents too,
I am so glad you are my SON..thank you.
