My son is HOME where he belongs!!!

Well he went in as a Meth addict, and a man who was broken in sooo many ways. He was unable to be the father or son he was meant to be, and he was on a path of personal destruction.
The prison set him free May 27th and although it was just following a Holiday weekend and his C.O. was on vacation, and this Work Camp had NEVER taken a Free Man to the airport for release, ( he needed to be there at 6 am that morning no less, which means they had to have him released quite early. It's an hour to the airport.) ; still it was done! His " Chauffer" LOL even gave him a personal escort through security and to the gate, which was very helpful, actually, because my son had little I.D. and so on. Praise God!
Not only that but They release from the real Prison next to the work camp, not the work camp itself. The work camp is fine and he's always had a coveted job there as a cook. Since the weekend before his release was Memorial Day they could have sent him over there to transition, which is very uncomfortable because you have no relationships or credibility with the other guys, and some of them are pretty grim. However the Thursday before his release date the Prison, not the work camp had a riot, where ambulances were called and some people stabbed. This put EVERYONE over there on lockdown with NO PRIVILEDGES, and leaving there cell or area only with an escort. Praise God for His Mercy my son did not have to endure any of that and they took him over to transition less than 24 hours prior to release!!!
Well from Florida to California took several hours but we were there in force at LAX with Welcome Home signs and everything. Even his son, 11 y/o,  was allowed to take off a day of school to greet him. ( that in itself was a miracle) but thats another story.
While in County, at the very beginning, like the Prodigal Son, he came to his senses and realized what a mess he had made of his life with his "plan" and repented and sought out God's plan. That was his beginning. He continued his path to restoration in every way he could during his time inside and even evangelized 4 other men in the process. These men have kept in touch and have been changed themselves. His time there was not a waste.
Upon arriving home he had a flow chart made with his goals organized within 48 hours. Within 24 hours he was already working on them.  There are still some minor legal matters he needs to tend to, and he needs to get a drivers license, job, etc. Well he made contact with his old employer and went on a job inspection with him that same night. Today he will work for him again, and soon full time, with God's blessing.
His father, who up until the time of his incarceration was emotionally absent, really stepped up, and now has gifted him the means to get false teeth which were badly needed due to METH Mouth. Soon he will be able to smile with confidence and actually chew some of his food.LOL
He has also been able to spend quality time with his son, who is his heart and central motivation for keeping his life going in the right direction.
Anyway needless to say I am very happy and hopeful to say the least. I hope this doesn't come off to people like I am bragging, but rather rejoicing and relief after a long and painful journey.
I love all of you guys, who have helped me keep my head up and my eyes focused on his return and a better future instead of the shame and pain of the moment. I cannot thank everyone enough, especially REW and Ihatewisconsin.  As you can see I still check in and will continue to do so. We will all get through this, I promise.
Your Friend, Cindy

I don\'t know your story since I am fairly new here but I don\'t think that is bragging a bit!! I think it sounds like a very caring Mom that only wants what is best for her son (like all of us Moms) & can now see him on a better path!!! Congrats & Good Luck to you both!!!

These are the kind of posts everyone on here just starting out especially need to hear about. This proves that things do get better. We all struggle and are sad, and go through hell, but in the end, they do come home.

I was just re reading your journal about your son coming home. Hope he is still doing great like you said he was. What an ordeal he went through. My guy is in a place that is supposed to be minimum, but it\'s more like Max. They treat them so bad, and he is going nuts in there. There is something going on there lately. Room searches everyday, and lately they have brought in guards from another prison to do the room searches. To me that says something is badly wrong with the guards there, to have outside guards do these searches. I am worried everyday about him.

In one way, I hope this is a good thing he is going through hell. Seemed to help your son realize this is not the life he wanted anymore. Mine is 53, I think it is TIME for him to realize it.

My son got out 4 years ago, and now about to have his 6th kid, between his, her\'s and their\'s, he has really shaped up and became a good person, wonderful father, and great devoted man to his fiance. He is home this week taking care of her, she had surgery yesterday for gallbladder and umbilical cord hernia. He is really stepping up to the plate in every way.
