My sister's celebration of life
As I write, my Thunder Bay family is holding a Celebration of Life for my sister. Liz died in June but the Celebration was postponed due to Covid restrictions. I was considering going but decided it wouldn't be good for me or the family. My youngest nephew, who is the executor of her will, and my niece who has drinking problems really hate me. It would have just caused conflict and that is the last thing I need. My niece's son swore at me in the hospital when i visited my sister - she almost died before my nephew bothered to get help then. Big mess to say the least.
Anyway, I am feeling melancholy. I posted some photos on Facebook and a tribute to her. Liz and I had a rather strange relationship. We often didn't see eye to eye but got along well otherwise. We had a great time when we traveled together. We went on cruises and road trips over the years. The hilight was wnen went to Finland to see where we came from,so to speak. We found our grandfather's grave and the home my dad lived in before he moved to Canada. He had disowned his family so we never got to see anyone. It was a wonderful trip as we decided to visit the Scandinavian countries and St. Petersburg, Russia as well.
I do get along with 2 nieces and a nephew so am not exactly evicted from the family.
We have decorated our home with photographs and art. Many of the photos are of family. Each year, it seems another one has passed on. Wonderful memories but also sad. Lisa is surrounded by loving family.
