My project
Sure - the T-Man is doing much, much better but there are times..... I could get more frustrated but I'm learning more and more to let go because it isn't helpful or healthy for me to get upset. He chooses to not do homework so hubby helps him A LOT by doing most of a particular project HE should be doing more of. I could get upset but......it isn't for me to intervene. It would be senseless to do so. T is so inconsistent with his behavior that it could be comical. On one hand, he served his detention, on the other hand - he came home after that and then ran out the door telling me he was going to work on an English project with friends. On one hand that was hours ago and here it's almost 9PM with no word. On the other hand.....when he does walk through the door the nights he's gone for long periods of time.....he certainly seems very, very sober. So we take the good with the bad and the bad with the ugly sometimes. And so I move on with my project. I sent my PowerPoint and agenda to the drug counselor who is supposed to present it next fall to the Middle School parents and I finally received an e-mail from her. She said it's very well thought out and seems to like it. She said she just has some comments about the Stages of Addiction I had on one of the slides. I KNEW she would comment on that. Only because I "fudged" it a bit to fit my parent participation part of the program. I turned it into 3 basic stages to simplify it for the sake of the demonstration, but I know it's more complicated than that. I hope it doesn't have to be changed much because I like the way I have it but I want it correct and since she's the expert and will be presenting it.....obviously....it will have to be changed. I also e-mailed the Assist. Principal. at the high school today and asked him if he would like to see my new project. I didn't tell him that this "project" is slated to be used at the Middle School, however. I know he doesn't have the power to make decisions and I'm not sure how much influence he has over the Principal of that school but I like him and would like to share it. Ideally, I would like it shown at the Middle School (7th & 8th grade), our local parochial 7th & 8 grade) and the high school. Hardly anyone shows up at the high school so maybe it wouldn't be worth it. Not sure what the turn out will be at the middle school, either, for that matter. I'm hoping to run a campaign of some sort to get the parents geared up for it. We'll see. In the meantime, I do want to move forward on the format - getting the music, voice-over and DVD intertwined throughout the PowerPoint. I can't do that until I meet with the counselor. Patience....I know.....
