My Optimistic Doctor :)

Well, I had my appointment with my specialist the other day and he's very optimistic :)  He says most of my blood work has come back normal from last time (a few months ago) and though some things are a bit high or low, not enough to warrant worry.  He blatantly said he doesn't think I need a transplant or ever will.  I'm taking that for what it's worth right now.  Of course after telling me the good news he also gave a list a mile long of the things to still be worried about....the varacies, chance of bleeding, the effects of my ammonia level (though this time he left my Lactulose dosage alone...AMEN!) and of course another 100 things that I should be careful of.  So....I'm doing great and in no danger according to my labs but I'm still very sick and of course could end up back in the hospital at any given moment.  Well, as I'm always the positive one I simply said "of course I'm thrilled with my test results but also know there's more to it than that".  I'm still waiting to hear from Walter Reed about my last MRI and when they want to do another as the clock is ticking down to when hubby leaves and as it is now he's gone so much that trying to schedule appointments is getting harder and harder, but we're still doing ok :)   Now I sort of understand why the social worker at Walter Reed is always asking if I take my meds even when I feel good....not that I ever really FEEL great but I can see how some people would get good news of sorts and think it's ok to skip on meds or even relax thier diet.  Not me!  I'm doing exactly everything I have been doing because obviously what I'm doing is about as right as it's gonna get for the time being and really I am pretty ok with that.  I never asked for anyone to cure me or take this horrible thing away and I don't know what the future will hold but I can't waste time losing sleep over that...I simply have to focus on NOW.  Though hubby did express his concern....he said he often worries about what might happen if one day my body simply doesn't respond to the meds I'm taking and then what will happen.  I told him I think about the same things and we can only cross that bridge when and if we get there.  I don't think he's any less worried but gee, for once he actually admitted that he really worries and it kinda made me sad...but I think it made him feel better to see that I'm still keeping my optimistic outlook on things.
God bless....
