My Newest Worry
So I had a few questions today and talked to a nurse at my RE's office. While talking to her, I asked why I would be 7 weeks but the baby only measures that I'm 6 weeks and if that's something to be concerned over. This was her response: We are not sure at this point. We need to keep checking the baby's size and compare the results to see if the fetus catches up and grows normally. WTF!? Now I'm feeling a little nervous....I read and heard that sometimes this happens but it seems this can happen more with natural conception since IVF is so precise with its timing. Here I was feeling so good from seeing yesterday's heartbeat and now I'm back to worrying. I'm really hoping everything is ok and this is just another one of my clinic's stupid ways of freaking me out...ugh....

It\'s true that with IVF the dates are very exact, but with the size of an embrie at this point it doesn\'t take much to false the data a little. I have a retroverted uterus and my re told me that even that can false the data because of the angle of the measure.
You saw a strong heartbeat and that\'s what\'s important at this point. Nothing will take the worry away but try to stay focused on what is going right.
One day at a time. When I saw you asked that question I was worried. They can\'t give you any reassurance or guarantee... They are cautiously optimistic and you should be too!
Thanks. Going to try and put this out of my mind for now. Nothing I can do and worrying won\'t change the situation. Going to focus on the positive that there\'s a baby in there and a heartbeat.
Sorry if they were too blunt. There\'s a way to deliver information with compassion and not just throw it on someone. Sorry you didn\'t get reassurance. I think Roxy said it best that a strong HB is something to hang your hat on. Try not to buy yourself additional worry. Easier said than done, I know!
I know its hard not to worry. But there was a strong heartbeat so I would be cautiously optimistic until next week when they can measure again. This babe could just be a late bloomer and you will catch up. Stay strong! XOXO
Worry is like a rocking chair....it passes the time but won\'t get you anywhere. Try not to focus on the worries, yep easier said than done! But like the girls said....try to stay cautiously optmistic and celebrate that there was a strong heart beat in there! Thinking of you and praying that all goes well!
XOXO
Just because you do IVF does not mean the dates are exact, meaning just because they transfer an embie(s) to your uterus doesn\'t mean they implant that very day - there is a 6 day window. I had extremely low beta numbers and was initially preggo w/ twins. I lost one early on and my DD was always measuring a week behind in size. She was born early at 35 weeks (due to me having preeclampscia - nothing to do with her) and she was just about the right size for a 35 weeker. She is now 3 1/2 and doing fine. Please don\'t let them worry you, just because your baby is measuring smaller, could mean it was a late implanter.
I was concerned because I did ivf...a frozen embryo transfer and according to the transfer date when I went in for my first ultrasound I thought I should be 6 weeks and three days. The ultrasound person said I was 5 weeks and 6 days. I thought it was strange but I heard sometimes it could implant late especially a frozen embryo. I\'m now almost 12 weeks and on schedule.
A miracle is a miracle- the REs dont know it all. Who knows why a C grade embie becomes a baby and A grade a one doesnt, why a perfect pregnancy ends at 22 weeks or why a traumatic one goes to term. At least your REs office admits they dont know. Maybe your embie was trying to implant for a few days extra because your uterus is inexperienced, and it was such a fighter embie that it got in there but now is tired and catching up... who knows, they dont. Its impossibly hard not to be anxious and worry, but really the best thing you can do is relax, put your feet up and think happy thoughts until the next US. xxx
my embryo never followed the measurement charts. totally normal. hang tight and I\'m so excited for you.
Thinking about you. I know how hard it is not to worry, but keep remembering your sweet baby\'s heartbeat and that will get you through:). Sending you a big, big hug...xoxo
I agree with Alicat, the REs don\'t know it all. There is so much about conception that is unexplainable and their knowledge is limited. And every conception, pregnancy, and child is different.
I am rooting for you and your little \"fighter\" bean :) Hope you get some needed encouragement from your clinic soon. Until then, try to remain as positive as you can even though I know it\'s hard.
Have a wonderful weekend pregnant woman! :)
Hang in there...I was given a date by my RE and then a different date when released to an OB...... You have a little fighter in there
