My New Nurse
Monday, October 27, 2008 - 6:10 PM Last night I managed to get some badly needed sleep. Upon waking up this morning, I felt refreshed and ready to start a new week. Yesterday afternoon, while I was tilted back in my chair and trying to take a small nap, I suddenly awoke to see a woman standing beside me. She was just standing there, staring down at me. I was somewhat startled to see her, and for a few moments, I could not figure out how she got inside my apartment. As things turned out, she is a new nurse who will be helping me from now on. I have a lock box home on my door, which contains an extra key to my apartment just in case my automatic door opener does not work, and someone needs to use the key in order to get in my apartment. This nurse apparently decided not to even bother knocking on my door, but to use this key instead. I need to have a talk with her about that. I like to have people at least try knocking on my door one time before opening the combination lock and getting the key. My first impression of this nurse tells me that she is a dork. With temperatures in the 30s and 40s, she is walking around wearing shorts. By the time I was clearly awake, she had already opened the blinds in my bedroom, which could let neighbors and anyone walking by look through my windows, and see anyone in my room whether dressed or not. If she wants to do that in her own home that is up to her, but I am not allowing it here. From the questions, she asked me about myself, it was quite clear that she had not even looked in my case file. She is supposed to come here again tomorrow morning, so I will give her one more chance before calling her office. I would still like to have the nurse that just left me, but the two CNAs who help me in the mornings were rude to her last week when she came and stayed for what they considered too long a time. I really liked that nurse a lot, because I felt safe and secure with her, she spent extra time with me to help explain a lot of questions I had about my physical condition, and to sum it up briefly, we were both on the same wavelength when it came to communicating with one another. If this new nurse does not have her act straightened up by tomorrow morning, I intend to file a complaint with the office. There is a strong possibility that I may be unintentionally taking out some anger out on this nurse, when it should really be going to my brother and sister. I am going to have to make a special effort to see that my anger is not misplaced. Quotes for Hope: “Failure is an event, not a person. Yesterday ended last night.” Zig Ziglar
