My New Normal
So it has been a few weeks since Bret stopped in unexpectedly to see me on Memorial Day Saturday. Even though I texted him since then, telling him how wonderful it was to see him, I have not heard a single word. It is sad, but not surprising. However, I can honestly say I am ok, and I know I am going to be ok. I have realized that this estrangement, although horrible, may not be the worst thing in the world after all. To see the daily destruction in his life....that would be far worse. I really do think God is protecting me. I have been devoting myself more to my daily quiet times, and I have joined a new Bible study this summer. When I get anxious, I really to try to practice what I preach, and I pray even harder and I seek God with all my heart. And one thing that keeps coming to me is Philippians 4:6....about not being anxious for anything, instead pray about everything, and presenting my petitions to God, with Thanksgiving, and knowing he will give me peace. The Bible does not say he will give me whatever I ask for. It says IF I pray with Thanksgiving, he will give me peace. And you know what, peace might just be better than what I asked for. So no, nothing new or miraculous has happened with Bret. The estrangement has not ended. But I am ok, and God is with me. And I am thankful for everything He has given me!
