My new journey.
I am enjoying my new job as caregiver to an elderly gentleman who recently had spinal surgery. It is what I've been doing for 22 years, until Colleen passed away. At times it almost feels as if I am helping her again!!
This job is only temporary, until he can function fully on his own again. So I applied for a job as a caregiver at our local Old Age Home. They will keep my application until they have a vacancy. This is the path I want to go from now on, helping people who really need my help. This way I can honor my beautiful Colleen's memory!!
This old guy is self centred and VERY stubborn! But he likes my daughter and granddaughter, and doesn't mind when they visit me here. He trusts me with his credit card and his car, and I will not let him down. I don't like his personality at all!! But I've learnt with my late husband to look past that and just focus on what I have to do.
The Lord showed me which road to take, in order to get through every today, until the day will finally come when I can be reunited with my precious Colleen again!!
I don't get any notifications from Daily Strength. Is there a system problem?

So happy you are enjoying your new job. Be well and have some peace, Kathy
Kudos!!! so glad you are doing something so important..... grumpy old men.... ha! that\'s funny! love ya!
You sound like you are exactly where you need to be. Does my heart good to know that there are honorable people assisting our elderly.
DS glitches seem to happen periodically. Maybe if you go inot settings and check your settings? Maybe change them and change them back? Hope that makes sense lol
Big hugs...Karen
Can\'t tell you how happy I am that your found some peace! I guess things can\'t be perfect though because grumpy old men still live in this world too.
One of the other moms mentioned she was not getting DS notifications either. Hope it gets figured out.
Sending love,
Leda
You are doing what brings you purpose and there is nothing better than that. Isn\'t that something that you needed to set a boundary with him as he would have been happy for \"more.\" Oh, these men! LOL! He knows a great catch when he sees one. :)
May many more doors continue to open my friend and so very happy to feel that your spirits are lifted in this way.
Loving care to Colleen\'s mum from Douglas and me,
XO Joanie
I worked with the elderly for most of my career. I saw it as a privilege to help people at the end of their lifespan - our society is so quick to write them off. And I rather liked \'grumpy old men\'. I took it as a challenge to make them smile. Those who were rude and critical irritated me, but like you said, I just ignored that and did what had to be done.
We have a grumpy guy who lives in a condo down the hall. I see him in the elevator often. I made it my mission to make him smile so I always smiled and greeted him. After about 5 years, he said hi and smiled. Now he even makes comments!
I hope your name soon comes up at the Home. It takes a special person to work with the elderly and I believe you have those qualities. I could always spot those who were only in it for money.
Wishing you well,
Tight hugs, M
How wonderful for you to have found your \"niche\".....That man is a lucky man to have you look out for him. (((((hugs)))) Vicki
Andelene,
what a lucky client this gentleman is! And helping people is a lovely way to honor your Colleen. Well done!
