My new attitude

Hello everybody,       I have been away from Daily Strength for a while now. It seems like everytime I came here I would get depressed. I think I may have been looking at it wrong. DS is a place of encouragement and friendship. Something I need desparately in my life.        It's funny how having a disability can make you have so many mood changes. When I first found out I had copd, I went to bed and I stayed there for monthes. I got so weak that I could barely hold my arms up over my head to wash my hair. When I did take a shower, which was not often. One day I realized, well a few things really. One, my girls needed me. Two, life was not going away just because I wanted it to. Three, it was not the end of the world. Four, if I took my meds, and got some exercise I would feel a whole lot better. So I got up. LOL. I still need to lose a lot of weight to feel a lot better i'm sure. I started walking through the stores now, instead of riding one of those motorized cars around. I do basically anything I want to do. Just a bit slower now. I still have my days that I go what is this all about? Why me? What did I do to deserve this? Then there are days that I go, oh well. I have this whether I like it or not, and I might as well make the best of it. It's still very frustrating to try to walk down the street with my family or friends and have to stop every once in a while to catch my breath. But at least i'm still on my feet.       Please, anyone reading this journal entry. I want to say to them. Please don't ever take the small things for granted. You never know how such a normal thing like breathing can be so precious, untill you can't do it anymore. God Bless.
