My Neck Issues

I met with the neurosurgeon and I have elected not to have the surgery.  I would be in a hard neck brace for 4 to 8 weeks, can't drive, till I am out of the hard brace,  can't lift over 10 lbs. for 2 months.  Due to the surgery, I would be on a liquid diet for 2 weeks and be hoarse for 2 weeks because they have to move my esophagus and voice box, aside to reach the vertebrae in my neck.  My wife can't drive in big city traffic so, I'd have to have someone drive her home after the surgery and drive back the next day to get me.  That's an hour and a half each way.  If I had lived closer to the hospital, it would have been a same day surgery and I could go home the same day but, living that far away the surgeon said, if issues arrive, I wouldn't be close enough to him and I'd have to go to the ER of my local hospital.

I have chose to deal with the pain, numbness and tingling in my left arm and hand for the present.  The surgeon also said that I have bad bone spurs so prominent, he doesn't understand why my right arm isn't numb and tingling like my left one is currently.  If and when that would happen, I would then possible agree to have the surgery.

I'm sorry that the surgery isn't an option. Do you have anything that helps with the pain or tingling?

I take tylenol and Aleve at times. These take the edge off of the pain but, the tingling and numbness are still there. I have endured a lot of pain through the years so, this isn't something new for me.
