My Mother's House

I am moved into my mother's house - the house in Maine is closed down for the winter (possibly forever). The final journey has been made, the truck packed and unpacked into my mother's garage and basement, and my brother dropped off.
Well, I dropped my brother off in Portland on Saturday at the ER, and he showed up at my mother's house on Sunday.
Yesterday, I went to visit my mother at the nursing home with my other brother, and found out that she is not being charged cash to stay there any more - since her last trip to the hospital, Medicare is finally picking up the tab (as they should have been, but would not), so it looks like her house is safe, at least for the moment.
While we were there, she mentioned wanting to give me her house. I told her no, she owns the house, but it is my home that she will be coming to to live when she gets out. I'll run the house from now on - someone has to, and she's not up to it.
I discussed it with my younger brother later that day, because he needs to be involved in the decisions as he is not only one of her heirs, but he has power of attorney for her, as well as being executor of her estate. He is the most stable and reasonable of her three remaining children (including me).
I told him that I don't want the house gifted to me - I don't want to own property again, ever. I do want to provide a stable environment for my girl through at least high school, however, and we should set up some sort of situation whereby no matter what happens we could live here at least that long before the house is sold.
I also told him that I don't want to deny proper inheritance to my brothers, although at the moment I have mixed feelings about denying my older brother his inheritance, as he has just cost me my house. I'm sure that I will recover, emotionally, but I am very angry at him right now.
My younger brother said that we could talk to the lawyer, because he thinks that something could be arranged to ensure that we could stay here for long enough for the girl to finish high school, possibly longer. Maybe even rental from the estate, if such a thing is possible.
