That is just awful. I work at a rest home/ rehab and see a lot of good things and not so good. Their are some wonderful nurses out their and some who should rethink their profession. There has got to be a solution to put her back in the good care she was receiving. Complain to every one until you get some answers. Her doctor maybe can help you find someone to help. I am so sorry I hope you can find her the care she needs.
GET HER TO A HOSPITAL... after she is in the hospitalshe can go back into a nursing home.. does your state have an omnibudsman.?
is she on a managed care medicaid? do they have case managers? is there a county services for aged in your area? are there other care facilities.. this can\'t be the only one... hugs and keep on trying
MaryLou
It seems like everything is wrong with that picture. I don\'t know if assisted living can be funded by medicaid, but it sounds like she would certainly qualify for that.
Was your father a veteran? I do not know your family circumstances, but if your father is deceased, I believe that there is a widows benefit that can be applied toward assisted living.
I am so sorry for this dilema, it is a catch 22 for sure.
Hugs, Rebecca
Sandi, I am so sorry that things are not working out for your mom. I have no suggestions because I have no experience in that area. Please know that I will be praying for your whole family and know that I feel blessed to have you in my life.
With love, Leda
I don\'t know the health care system in the USA. It sounds like she does need a nursing home. It was the nursing care and supervision that got her well. It stand to reason that if she is not receiving that care, she will deteriorate. I agree that the quickest way to get a bed in a nursing home is through the hospital - even if you have to take her yourself.
It is terrible that she did not get her prescribed antibiotics. However with 80 residents to one staff member, I am not surprised. As for the air conditioning, it is pretty clear that the owners are more interested in money than care.
It is a sad fact that you as a family member need to be so vigilant. Care homes are supposed to take the stress off the families, not add to it.
Good luck getting the care your mom needs.
Love and hugs,
Marlene
Thanks for the information and responses...I will check in on the things that have been suggested as I am not sure....when she went in last year of course had just lost Ken and had the surgery myself...all was really good for her until they moved her March 2, 2011.....Yes my father was in the service and he is deceased....I will check into that...If I don\'t get her moved back to the nursing home....I don\'t know what I will do...She lives in a different state than me...my sister has been handling it all....but I plan on reporting this place mom is at....as there is NOT the care anyone sick needs....Prayers and suggestions are greatly appreciated...I never thought of putting her back in the hospital...that is how she got to the first nursing home to begin with and we were told she could never take care of herself and needed the care of a nursing home....Lots of good ideals..thanks, Sandi
Listen to Mary Lou, check with the States Ombudsman after you get her to a hospital. I\'m afraid in the next few years the care of our elderly will only get worse.
I am so sorry my friend no suggestions as I live in Canada. Best of luck and your mom is happy to have you
Meant lucky to have you
Sandi, this is unconscionable! Your mom deserves better. I think MaryLou\'s idea of getting the states ombudsman involved is a good idea. Thank God she has you to advocate for her. Love and peace, Linda
and for anyone to suggest we do not need healthcare reform? Listen to what the Canadians say? What\'s happening with your mother, happens ALL THE TIME! DO whatever it takes!

Sandi...I am so sorry that your mother is being neglected. We have assisted living in our area where they have a nurse or nurses on staff to give medications but for the most part the residents can do for themselves. It varies from state to state. Senior citizens are the first to get the ax in this new healthcare proposal....medicaid/medicare will get a huge overhaul....and none for the good. I pray your mother can get into the right place and soon. Love, dale...brandon\'s mom
Im so sorry your mom has to deal with this terrible place, taking her to the hospital seems like a good idea, no matter, just get her out of there, thats sounds horrible,...Your Friend, Dave
I\'m so sorry you and your mom are having to go through this stuff. My dear friend and neighbor here in Calif. is going through almost the very same thing with her mother. How disgusting to have to be such a watchdog in such a time as this. The nurses really hate to see her coming now, as she isn\'t quitting the quest for good care for her mom. Wish I could help you--but I can pray! love, Margery Ann
