my mom giving me trouble.

My mom is attached to things. She was sick in the hospital.  My whole family had to clean her house up cause it was trashed.  My dad coulldnt even walk through the kitchen  to get to his chair in the family room. do we all cleaned.   When my mom got back home she was crying to my dad about how clean it was! My lord, why? I would like it if someone cleaned for mr. I figure stuff  is just stuff. People are more important.   She kept asking me where is this, where is that! I had to tell her, look we clean cause we love you and dad. And I told her thats that. I do understand she is a hoarding,  but it was a safety thing.

Not easy trying to keep loved ones safe but what you did was right and she may still thank you - hugs.

Hoarders have massive ocd. They keep all that stuff because it is precious to them. Very precious. Far more important than people! I think if you can get her to a psychiatrist and get her medicated that might help but otherwise all you have done is tear away her security when she wasn\'t there to protect it. She will feel betrayed and in panic. She will certainly have it filled back up in no time and probably will now be unwilling to go to hospital again. Can you get her some counselling?

Hi Angie,
You did the right thing, but unfortunately your mom doesn\'t see it because it is an illness for her.

Hey Angie - I agree with Blue. You haven\'t done anything wrong - you did what you believed best. Bridgie is also right; your mother may have lost some of the security she had with those Things. She may well indeed feel panic and caution toward you and your family. OCD is terrribly hard to treat - but seeing a psychiatrist might be a good first step. Big hugs, sweet lady!

My mother sees a psychiatrist. SHE WILL fill it up! But we had to incase a home-nurse came in. She wont understand ever cause my dad spioled her. My dad is ill too! He depends on her for everything. God bless my parents!

Hi sweety. That was a wonderful thing you did for your mother but unfortunately, if she is a hoarder, which I am not judging that she is, but the way she talked to you, and your dad not being able to get his chair from point A to point B, it does sound that way. Just throwing out a newspaper can be detrimental to her. I would have done the same thing, because that is what we do when we love our parents. We want to take care of them and make sure they are in a safe environment. Please don\'t feel bad, as everyone has said, you did NOTHING wrong. Hugs!

My Mom was also a hoarder, she kept everything and had 10 of everything. I believe it is an illness , I see she is happy her house is clean. She will adjust, clutter is bad for the mind, you did good Angie.
