My marathon in April
My marathon is dated April 25 and I can't wait to travel to the gorgeous seascape to get away for awhile with my beau. However, call me a wuss, but winter training this past season was absolutely horrid.
My excuses are: I was traveling for almost 4 weeks straight, I switched jobs, my previous work schedule was very taxing, and I got food poisoning earlier this week.
However, that doesn't do anything to budge the rock-solid date of April 25th looming ahead and getting ever closer. I ran 16 miles on Friday, March 12. I was supposed to run 18 on Thursday of last week, but didn't, and then Vegas happened that weekend.
And here I am, Thursday March 25th, without having run for over a week. I tried to do 5 on Tuesday, but I ended up running two, walking three, and almost barfing somewhere in the middle. :)
So technically, as soon as you can run 20 miles, you can run a marathon. I'm still at 16. Woe is me?
I'll be run-walking at worst. I think I'll try the run 9 minutes, walk 1 minute strategy. We'll see if this works.
