My mantras
I have a lot of positive thoughts that show up in the midst of the dark thoughts.
One thing I can't get the hang of all the time is this:
"My mental attention is focused on ME".
If I could get that one under my belt I think I'd be out of this emotional mud.
"I deserve better". And I do, and maybe so does he. He was not happy or he would not have left.
"I will not run. I will embrace my scars. I will not run". I tend to run away from hard things.

It is hard to focus on ourselves when we have for so long focused on the care and well being of others. I know how this feels. Focusing on me is hard, but it something that has to be done.
In the midst of me going over my failed marriage at 3 in the morning because I cannot sleep, I tell myself also that I deserve better. That mantra is what keeps me going when I start to second guess my decision. I will admit, however, that I do not think on my STBX\'s happiness. I commend you for having such sympathy.
Sweetie, trust me sometimes I don\'t have a bit of sympathy for him or care for his happiness. Some days it just hits me a part of me still loves him. That does not mean I want to be with him....I am just trying to get to a place where I can let go for good.
We all deserve to be happy.
