My Labour & Delivery

As some of you may know I was overdue and had to go in to be induced on Friday March 12th.They gave me three prostin pessaries over friday night and saturday to get things going.I finally was 1cm dialated on Sunday morning so they broke my waters and did a sweep to help speed things up a bit.By Sunday afternoon I was 3cm and they moved me into a delivery room as my contractions were getting stronger.Unfortunately I had to be constantly on a CTG monitor to keep an eye on baby as I was induced (it's protocol) so I had to be layed on the bed the whole time but it was a small price to pay.I only had codiene for pain relief up until my contractions reached the top of the graph on the monitor then I asked for entonox which made me all giggle...it was so funny.I kept feeling as if I wanted to push but I knew I wasn't far enough along yet.I had a real urge to stand just for a minute as my lower back was agony - I had no pain in the front...all in my back as she was spine to spine, so I stood up for a minute but that made the pain so much worse. At this point I asked for the pethidin which was a godsend because it knocked me out...I slept between contractions and through examinations haha!Once the pain all got too much I had an epidural which was bliss.I was finally ready to push at 2.10am and so it began. Some doctors came in and told me that she would have to be helped a little as being spine to spine made it more difficult so we decided on a ventouse delivery - lucky I already had the epidural. Finally at 4.32am Olivia Jane Boxall was born into the world...the first thing daddy said was how beautiful she was and the first words to come out of my mouth were 'is it definately a girl?' HAHA! She was 8lb 7oz.She is so beautiful and amazing...I never knew I could feel like this, even with the sleep deprivation (which isn't too bad at the moment). We had to spend 4 days in hospital afterwards as we both had raised temperatures after delivery so both had to have IV antibiotics. Then Olivia got jaundice so she had to spend some time undergoing phototherapy. But we are home now and happy and healthy.
Thank you all so much for your support over the past 9 months
