My hilarious day
I don't know if I told you guys but one of my goals this year is to make a cake (from scratch, not a mix) for all of my staff on their birthday. Last week I made a great carrot cake and it turned out perfectly. Last night I was making a German chocolate layer cake. If takes about an hour to make the cake and I made it in the home ec classroom.
I got the batter made and realized the class only had 2 8-inch cake pans and I needed 3. I called one of my teachers who lives by the school and she brought me a pan that wasn't quite 8". I put that pan in a different oven. Soon I smelled something burning. The batter had dripped over the side of pan which was burning in the bottom of the oven.
I opened the oven door and thought "oh crap, the fire alarm is going to go off. As I thought it, it happened. Called dispatch and the dispatcher lauhed with me. By the way, the alarm can be heard from at least 1 milefrom the school. The fire truck showed up. I toldthe firemen I was making a cake for one of our era. The firemen asked if I didn't like this teacher. Haha.
