My heart is sad...
I just got back from spending the day at the hospital with my grandmother. It was the most heartbreaking thing ever. I just kept standing at the end of her bed watching her struggle to breath and moan in pain. I wasn't expecting her to get so much worse so fast. She has congestive heart failure. And since she is diabetic her kidneys are failing. They are working less then 30% right now. And also other organs are failing like her pancrease. Her doctors warn us that hospice is just around the corner for her. I'm so crushed. She is practically my mother. Nineteen months ago she lost her short term memory. She's out of it most of the time, but once in a while she becomes more lucid. When she leaves the hospital she has to go back to the nursing home since my grandfather won't take her back home. She was begging me to keep her out of there. But I have no way of taking care of her with a one bedroom apartment. I wish there was something I could do. I'm so lost guys...I just don't know what to do. I've never lost anyone close to me. I feel so helpless... Jessica

Jess-- so sorry you are going through this hon. It is so hard. As I told you before I have been there. My grandmother begged me to take her home with me but you just cannot do it. You are not equipped to deal with it. Hospice is such a wonderful thing. I hope they can get her into a hospice home. My mother in law just died in one in July. It was a wonderful environment. We were able to bring her puppy to see her and they made us feel so welcome. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. I am here if you need to vent or whatever...Hugs. Lora
I\'m so sorry Jessica, it\'s hard to watch a loved one pass on. I agree with Lora, it would be impossible for you to look after her all on your own. I will keep you in my prayers.
hugs Cathy
Sweetie we will talk,I know this is hard, but Hospice is not always a bad thing, remember I worked for them,so it is alot of people like me who truly care.just remember, its not a job one does if they don\'t trust me ok,,I am here for you,I love you dearly, love always,Deb
I\'m so sawry that you feel so awful. I think my mom\'s parents were the hardest to lost for me cuz although dysfuntional, My grandma did what she could to help my dad out looking over us while he was at work. Hospice can be a godsend. My father-n-law had cancer and hospice was there in the house looking over him in his final days. It is no fun to lose a loved one. My dad is my hero and he has dementia. It pains me cuz he was like a mom/dad to me and I know it will be hard when the time comes but one has to look at the awesome parts of their life and not dwell on the others. Take care and hugs. DT
Im so sorry (((Jess)))) I know all to well the horrible pain it is to watch someone we love so much get sicker right before our eyes... My Grandpa died in my mom\'s arms (I sat at his bedside for 12 days) and then mom passed so suddenly just a year later. I guess what I\'m trying to say, is that I\'m here for you hun. I\'ve been in your situation...still am now, my grandmother is also very elderly and sick in a nursing home) But losing your Mom is one of the hardest things a child has to endure ...and your grandmother is your mother... Lots of hugs and I\'m thinking of you hun!!
I\'m so sorry to hear about your grandmother. I will keep you and your grandma in my my thoughts and prayers. Hugs, Sherilyn
Oh hun! I am so sorry. I have been thinking about my grandparents and the fact that they won\'t always be around. I live with my grandparents, and I just pray that they will remain healthy for years to come. I love you and pray that your grandma and you will be calmed by the Lord. He will embrace both of you if you let Him. He will calm the storm. Love you! *HUGS*
i\'m so sorry i know this is so hard for you. but you also have to think about how much she\'s suffering and let God do his thing. i\'m praying for her, for you too. take care. love and hugs, meg
