My heart beats so fast...

I slept so terribly last night because my heart was beating so fast and it kept me up.I couldn't sleep on my left side at all.It was better if I was on my back, but I'm not used to sleeping on my back. It's still beating like crazy today.I took my pulse and I don't have an elevated heart rate, so I don't think it's something to worry about. It has only been 3 1/2 weeks since I went to the ER for the PE. I think this is probably a normal part of recovery...yet I still find it disconcerting. I am torn between feeling like I need to rest today (It is Saturday!) and be gentle on my bodyand wanting to get ouf of the house and dsitract myself from this odd sensation. Perhaps there is a happy medium... Maybe I'll make a run to the craft store for a brief distraction and come home and craft.Or go to the video store and come home and watch a movie.

ok I KNOW it\'s not stress but perhaps some breathing techniques would help anyway? hmmmm well if it\'s going on that long... hmmm worrisome? call your new primary care? is that in place yet? have a nurse call you back?

i am feeling SO freakin crafty. i feel my groove coming back.

i hope you feel better!

the back sleeping thing: when I\'m willing to do it, a pillow under the knees help, also i love my buckwheat pillow, and i get in sort of a yoga position with that, where it sort of sits under the base of your skull, you know what i\'m talking about? but this is just for vanity. i love to sleep twisted up on my side, and it is totally squishing my face. hmmm yeah, I\'m turning 39 this year, getting a little vain ;) ...

rooting for you~~~

I\'m hoping that you are feeling better after some time has elapsed. Perhaps you were experiencing some anxiety about the offer in Ghana. (just a thought) Take care and be well. hugs to you xxxx

Thanks for the support, y\'all.
Lots of folks on the PE board have discussed the same exact symptom during recovery, so I think it\'s just a normal part of the process... I had pulmonary hypertension with my first PE and this is certainly part of the symptoms of that.

I think breathing exercises may help me fall back to sleep if it happens again. Good idea, startrail...I also have Anne of the Island to read if I have trouble sleeping. I know you will appreciate that! :)

thank you so much. a relaxation, breathing CD will be so perfect!! thanks, girlie! you are the bestest!

(i think there are a lot of strange symptoms during PE recovery and learning to relax is key...if you freak out over them, it just creates a nasty cycle leading to anxiety and physical response to anxiety which just makes things worse...)

You are correct about anxiety. It creates a cycle which is very hard to break. I\'m glad to hear that you are feeling better today. Stay well =)

Hey girl I experienced this for the first few months of my recovery, i still feel it sometimes but much less often, I got a watch that tells me my heart rate which makes me feel better, it can also be anxiety! But I do beleive this is a normal part of reocvery! MAUH
