My Grandpa

While I did not have any parents around me, my grandpa hugged me and called me his kindelle (child)
While my mother told me I was the worst thing that happened to her, my grandpa said every day that I was the best child he ever could ask for
As I felt ugly growing up in Rio, my grandpa told me with the most loving eyes and candid smile that I looked like a queen, even when I had a towel around my head and looked all messed up.
For him, I was the most intelligent, the most beautiful, the kindest person he ever had the opportunity to meet. He told me that every day, every minute we were together, even when he did not use words.
I believe you, grandpa. Because for me, you were the same. Thank you for being there for me when I need you most and thank you for walking by me, from the other world, making sure I am able to face and have the courage to move from one day to the next.
I loved you then, I will love you forever, and because of the love you gave me, I am able to multiply and share with my own granddaughter.

When I was 1 and 1/2 years old I was put in an oprhanage and from there to 11 foster homes. I know how you feel. If God did not look out for the orphans I don\'t know where I would be.

The unconditional love you express for him and he for you is being cultivated in your granddaughter.....this makes you a rich, rich woman.

After my grandfather past away, I lived across the street at my grandmothers to help take care of her. The first I went to live with her I was in 6th grade. Got so fat I had to leave(was on crutches for 10 of 12 months - didn\'t help), and the second time I was in 9th grade and lived there for 5 years. That was my safe place, and my relationship with my grandmother was much like you describe but in a different way. I am so glad that you were able to have that relationship with your grandfather. I know it will be with you always! :):)

what a beautiful journal entry. Both my grandfathers are diseased (my fathers side in 1982 when I was 13 and my mothers side in 2005 when I was 39). I love them and miss them terribly. I was so fortunate to have my grandfather on my mothers side at such an age and had a long relationship with him. He lived to be 89 and had a heart of gold, eyes as blue as the ocean. I wished I had my other grandfather but he was taken away from me at such a young age. I will ever forget them.

When I was younger, mother would tell me I don\'t know if you are a blessing or curse. Your father lost interest in me after you were born.
Dad was my comfort. He didn\'t have to say anything whenever he was in the room I knew he genuinely cared for me. He would play games with me, take me to children\'s parties and always make me feel special. When he died most painful experience but he left me with the gift of caring. To this day I am always comforted when I think of him. No one can take that from me.
