My Grandma
On january 30th my grandmother past away at 99 years of age. This was her 100th year on this earth. She was my rock and confidant! Always there to love me and never judged. She cried when I miscarried, danced at our wedding, held me when I felt hopeless.
She raised me from a little 1 week old when my mother was too sick and weak to take care of me. She was my mama and I her baby!
As I grew up I never realized how precious she was until I turned 30. There were times when I argued with her and was mean and now I know that those were the moments that I deeply hurt her, but she always forgave me. She never held a grudge or was mean back. Through her I found pure unconditional love that I am now trying to pass on to my daughter.
She had a chance to spend some time during christmas with our little Emma. She had bad arthritist and I know that she was in pain, but she still smiled...she had a radiant smile. It is almost like she held on to make sure that we had a child before she passed on. The day before her death, I stopped by the home and prayed with her. I talked about Emma and showed her some video from my IPad. She tracked the pictures and smiled and tried to speak. I was certain that this was going to be the last time that I would ever see again, so I wanted to make it as special and memorable as possible. When my mother and uncle showed up, we sang to her and she feel asleep. I made it home to give Emma her dinner and follow through with bedtime...all the time I kept thinking...if we had her 6 years ago then Grandma could have interacted with her more!
My grandmothers life was her family! She could never understand why we did things with our friends when family was right there. She spent her life looking after us and loving us!
I am crushed and sad however I know that she is in God's loving embrace. She is with my brother, grandfather and her family now! the last of 8 children now gone!
