My friend Patsy

I've known a woman named Patsy for years. Her life has just gotten progressively worse. Being on social security doesn't cover anything and she's been on it since way before retirement age, of course she gets average benefits which is 900 something we all know you can't live off of that. Even if she didn't get taxed on her social security it still wouldn't get her much. Anyway she got on two section 8 housing lists. When you go in there they quote you three to five years for the next steps after applying. There's a goddamn wait-list for every homeless shelter in Utah. And then they harass and sometimes arrest people for what they call camping. Most homeless people no longer have their ID because some one else stole it from them or it was in a repoed storage units or something as common as the car they were sleeping in was stolen. Anyway, try to get a job without an ID. I brought her and her friend some clothes, bought a coloring book a magazine about ADHD and a reusable shopping bag. Their sleeping in the back yard of an old man that sexually harasses her. He was just fine when his wife was still alive. I'm hoping that something comes through for her soon.
