My first time on here

Hello,   I am so glad I found this site, as I really need it. (I wish I would have found it last year.) The reason is that my husband, Tom  had a massive stroke on March 4, 2012. In fact, we spent our 48th Wedding Anniversary together in the ICU unit at the hospital. He was in the hospital for 1 month, where he got pneumonia, ended up on life support. He did make it through that, and was transferred to a nursing home. He spent 3 months there. His care was definitely not very good. He was a diabetic, and had foot ulcers. They did not seem to care that they turned black.  He ended up getting a serious infection. I insisted he get to a hospital emergency room, and he finally was taken there. The surgeon gave me the news I was dreading. His foot ulcers were so severe, he needed to have his right leg amputated, to prevent him gettingt gangrene, and spreading through his body. I spent the night in his hospital room, as they got him prepped for surgery the next morning(7/21/13).  Tom came through the surgery, but ,unfortunally he did have some gangrene spreading through his body. He was to weak to fight off the ihefection.. Tom went into kidney and heart failure, and got pneumonia again. He was then transferred to the Hospice Center on 7/29/13 ,where he died on Friday, 8/3/13, with my son and I at his side. He died on Friday, August 3rd, 2012. I was totally exhausted after spending every day at his side in hospital, the nursing home, and in hospice. We had his funeral on Sat. 8/11/13.Although it was only my husband who died, it was like I "lost" 4 family members. I will explaain later.
Like I said, I really need this site to "vent", and to have people who critize me, that I am still grieving 1 year later. Hope to hear from you. Thanks for listening. Kathy
