My First Time

I'm new to this site, and so far I think it's amazing!!  My first panic attack happened while I was riding home in a car with my husband and a friend. Thankfully I wasn't driving but I was terrified as I didn't know what was going on. I tried to drink a lot of water and then soda. I got out of the car and walked a little. I tried riding with the window down. Nothing was calming me down. This just made me more panicky and I started to hyperventilate. By this time, I was sitting in the front seat, my husband was in the back and my friend was driving and told him I needed to get to the nearest hospital because I didn't know what was going on. I was literally fighting just to keep from passing out. I couldn't breath, I was seeing black spots- I thought I was dying.  We floored it because my friend was officially freaked out by now while my husband in the back seat had no idea what was going on! When we pulled up to the ER he was shocked that I hadn't told him and I went to get out of the car and just collapsed. I couldn't walk because my muscles were so contracted. My husband had to carry me into the hospital and upon finding out what was really going on, I was immediately embarrassed. I got a shot of ativan and they had me lay around for a while. I couldn't believe how sore I was. Or how tired I was. It was the scariest day of my life and I still can't make people who don't have panic attacks understand what I went through that day and what I still go through to keep these things in check.  I am from a small town so finding support groups like this around here is nearly impossible. I'm so thrilled to be a part of this website. I can tell it's going to help!!!!
