My First Journal Entry
I am not sure what is wrong with me. I have suffered with general chronic pain since my work comp injury on July 5th, 2013 when I suffered a thumb dislocation. Following my injury I went to see the occupational health doctor and he said my thumb was sprained prescribed ice and rest. After three months I went back because I was still having pain and I was not progressing with my therapy. The doctor ordered another x-ray which came back negative and said since it was not broken there was nothing to do but wait for it to heal. That soft tissues sometimes takes a long time to heal and that I needed to be patient with the process. His tone with me was very terse and he made me feel very uncomfortable for asking to be seen again.
While seeing a surgeon about another work comp injury on my left hand I decided to ask his opinion about my right. Since I had a claim number he agreed to take his own x-ray. His x-ray of my right hand revealed that my right thumb was dislocated and had been dislocated for 5 months! That means that every x-ray that I had complained about hurting had been misread! Which means that they were setting my thumb to get a good x-ray!!!! WTF!! Great medical care huh? Complete incompetence! I had the surgery but it didn't fix the problem and I still have pain and I now need another surgery. Not his fault. I blame the fact that it took so long to find the problem.
I place the blame on my employer and the occupational health doctor who had to be forced to file a claim by the insurance adjuster because they were too lazy to fill out the paperwork. The fact that the hospital misread several x-rays which lead to my treatment being delayed and my surgery being delayed by five months. Also my physical impairment is now permanent and my mental state has systematically gottem worse over the past two years since my injury. This is partially responsible for my inabilitity to find employment.
To top things off I was told I have no recourse against the hospital because since it is work comp I can't sue for damages. Also, since I am not technically "disabled" I can't apply to jobs where I can get preference for being disabled. I am technically a % "impaired" Whatever the hell that means. And to top that off, I am legally obligated to inform an employer that I am impaired. Can you believe that shit? How am I expected to get a job?
So if anyone has any advice or anything to say, I would love to hear it. I really need some help. :( Most days I can't even get out of bed. I have horrible migraines. Chronic pain due to nerve pain in both my hands and arms. And severe agoraphobia/panic attacks/depression. My psychiatrist mentioned my migraines may be linked to epilepsy or possibly auto immune or fibromylia. I am a mess. Anyway. Any guidance would help.
