My First Great Grandchild Zayn

Cara's oldest child, my grandson T'Ben lives with his girlfriend. She has a child from a previous relationship. I have been encouraging him to be vigilant in working to think of and treat Zayn as his child if he plans on he and Jessica being together. When Jessica and T’Ben called to let me know that Jessica and he were expecting a baby and that it would be my first great grandchild. I didn’t say anything at the time, but a part of me didn’t like it, that they were saying this child would be my first great grandchild. It takes a bit of adjusting sometimes.
I was saddened for T’Ben and Jessica when she lost the baby. I had the thought though at that point that I wanted to let them know that if they had a child at a later date, that child would be my second great grandchild. I wanted them to understand that I consider Zayn as my first great grandchild. I was happy and enjoyed shopping for him for his first birthday. T'Ben and Jessica fight constantly and I'm feeling so sad. I know that if they break up Zayn will probably not be in my life.
I wanted to post a picture of Zayn in the pajamas I got him for his birthday.  He looked so cute. He is cute.  I can't sign onto Facebook to retrieve the picture I wanted to post.

I hate the idea that T'Ben and Jessica may break up.

I\'m with you. I am not capable of compartmentalizing which child is \"mine\" and which child is not. Love is love. Zayn, no matter if he is in your life for a short while (I hope T\'Ben and Jessica work it out) or the rest of your life, needs to know and feel that he is loved unconditionally. One of my mantras is that you can\'t have too many Grandma\'s and Grandpa\'s. Drawing lines between \"yours, mine and ours\" only leads to discrimination and favorites. Bad recipe to raise healthy kids.
I was adopted as a new born. My parents, especially my Dad loved my brother (also adopted) and I MORE than if we were his \"blood\". He taught me such a life lesson on unconditional, life long love.
I wish T\'Ben and Jessica well. I hope they are able to compromise and realize the impact they have on others (I mean Jayn mostly). It\'s so damn hard to sit back and be on a \"need to know\" basis, isn\'t it.
peace and gentle hugs,

I am so sorry that T\'Ben and Jessica are fighting. It will definitely be awful for Zayn if they separate. He will not only be losing his dad but his great grandparents too. Not fair.
The one thing I will be thankful for is that Harvey treated Cevyn as his own - she adored him. It is sad they are not getting along (thanks to the evil stepmother). I recall when Harvey\'s brother and wife had a girl, Harv\'s mom said \"our first granddaughter\". Harvey corrected her \"No, your second\".
Take care and pray that all works out in Zayn\'s favor.
Tight hugs, M

How special it is that you consider Zayn! When Josh was dating a gal with a child, I too tried to get him to get him in the \"papa mode\". I am still not sure if they broke up because of it or not. At any rate, the relationship did not last. Hopefully, T\'Benn\'s and Jessica\'s will! (I am so sorry they lost the baby.) Sending love, Leda

I am sorry to hear about the loss of the great grandchild. I also hope the couple can stay together, for Zayn\'s sake and yours and Richard\'s too.
