my first entry

I have been dealing with my husband's drinking for almost 5 years. It is getting worse. He says he knows he needs help but nothing changes for very long. I don't know how long I can keep going and keep protecting the children from this insanity. he is going to kill himself or someone else, and even that might not be the wake up call he needs. I have been to the hospital with him three times, and always he has an excuse for why things went so wrong each time. 
 
How do you keep living with someone who is so sick without becoming sick yourself? How do you keep his sickness from infecting the children? I am in despair.
