My first day on Daily Strength
It's been 4 years of living with full-blown Meniere's. Thank goodness the Meniett machine has really helped with the vertigo. But every spring I go through the same thing. My symptoms start getting worse as the pollen comes out. And every spring I get depressed. Just when it becomes so beautiful outside, all the arts & crafts festivals are happening, I want to be hiking, running, camping, swimming, having cookouts, so many of the reasons I moved to the desert in the first place, and I have to stay indoors. I'm already on an anti-depressant, and I suppose it is helping because instead of giving up I am fighting the depression every day. It's hard to tease apart how much of my need to sleep is the effects of the meniere's, and what is from depression. If I did what I want to do, I would spend all day on the sofa, sleeping, reading, eating and watching TV. But when I give into this urge for even half a day, I feel horrible. So I force myself to do things around the house. There are projects I want to do inside, and I do have my pottery. The pottery is physically demanding and can affect my ear, which makes me hesitant to do it. But I do feel better when get something accomplished. When I go back and read this, I realize how depressed I really am. I think it's time to take the bull by the horns. I'll schedule with my PCP to discuss medications. And I've got to build exercise into my days, even though I hate that it has to be indoors.
