My First Day
Today is my first day signing up for Daily Strength. i am hoping to use this to lay out some of my daily frustrations about my situation and hopefully get stronger as the days pass. I am looking at this time to attempt to improve my mental and physical health to the point where i can really look at moving forward in my life. Since noone knows me personally on here, I plan to leave everything open. So please feel free to read whatever i have to say and let me know if you have any words of wisdom. Today i posted my initial post onto the forums. I've cut and pasted below for future reference. Hi everyone, i just joined up on the website and wanted to give my story to see if anyone can provide me some feedback on what i should do or ideas on moving on with my life. I am 32yrd who would have been married to my wife 5 years in July. We had been together for a total of almost 12 years. Since the beginning of the year, I sensed distance between us and finally confronted her about a month ago. She then said she needed space and was thinking about moving out.. After prodding her, I had found out that she had already had a place since the beginning of the year and she was renting with her mothers money and had been seeing a person at her apartment while she was at work. I was of course shocked, but didnt realize understand the magnitude of this relationship. I soon found out that she was very attached to this person who also had a pregnant wife and 1 yr son at home. My wife and I both have a great son together. I've had to come to grips that i need to let her go and live her life and find out if thats what she wants, but i do still love her and want her to come back. Am i just crazy or is it too soon to really think rationale. I've been overly nice to her to maintain that friendship at least since she is the mother of my son. I still have my whole life ahead of me, but these past years it has only been about being together with her. I've convinced myself that if she ever were to break up with this person i would try to win her back, but i also want to feel like she didn't settle with me. Things are very muddled since i am trying to do whats best for my son, but honestly it hurts every day to act the opposite of how you feel. My ex is very emotional. she knows what she does is wrong, but i can't yell at her with risk about damaging what little i have left of our friendship and connection we can have with our son together as parents. Anyone have any words of wisdom or advice?

Is she willing to try counseling with you? If not, what about counseling by yourself? I would focus on yourself and your son right now. Do what\'s best for you and for your son right now. Your ex is on her own journey right now. She may or may not come back to you, but you have to move on for your own sake right now. I would keep contact with her to a minimum, no unnecessary contact unless it\'s about your son. And just try to begin to move on. It\'s hard, but what are your choices? Hang in there....life does get better.
I tried to convince her to go to counseling with me, at one point for marriage counseling and lately more to help me and her both gets some closure. I finally got a therapist about 2 weeks ago. I am definitely trying to work on getting myself stronger and healthier, but there definitely is a lot of down time. Down time = bad time.
