My doc is bizarre.
I was dreading and dreading seeing my hematologist today. But it did not go as terribly as expected. The good part:I was initially greeted by a different new doc who I really liked. She was kind and seemed concerned that I had a second PE. The bad part:My doc is really really conservative about putting peope on coumadin. This was my SECOND PULMONARY EMBOLISM and I have a protrhombin gene mutationand she is not sure I should be on coumadin for life! She said that my first PE was provoked by BC pills and my second one was "unprovoked."(I agree with that.) Then, she said that the protocol is to not prescribe anti-coagulants for life if you only have one unprovoked PE. So she's not counting the first PE? She would like for me to have 3 PEs before I am on Coumadin for life? Seems nutty nutty nutty to me. I don't have to see her again for a year. If she suggests taking me off, I will tell her "I need a second opinion" and perhaps never see her again...
