My Daughter's Birthday
Today is my oldest daughter's birthday. The plan had been for her and my beautiful wife to go shopping together but now it'll be me trying to take my wife's place and although we're both trying to make the best of it, I'll just stay with her for support and hope she finds the clothes she likes.
Why do we take so many things for granted every single day? We're adults and we should know better. We see this happening to others all the time and yet we go through life oblivious to what could happen at any time until the boulder tips our way and rolls over us.
I had a dream last night. I met my wife but I can't remember where it was. I know it was evening and there was grass around us but that's all I remember. I told her that someone died and we had to go back and stop it from happening. At first I said it was someone else but then told her it was her and how could we stop it? We had to. There must be a way. She wouldn't answer me. The dream is becoming more vague as a couple of hours has gone by but I remember the feeling of hugging her and I woke up with an incredible feeling of grief and loss. I had to cry it out quietly because I'm taking my daughter out shopping now and I truly hope my wife will be with us.
I'm signing her birthday card from both of us because in this case I'm positive that's what my wife would want.
