my daughter / placebo effect
My daughter Susan has suffered with anxiety since she was 8; she's now 11. She's extremely shy until she feels comfortable with other kids. My daughter has an extremely high pitched voice that's hereditary through 3 generations. At her old school she was bullied badly for it and developed anxiety.
Every morning for the past 3 years she wants to cry because she's scared of facing the day - a fear that something bad will happen: what if a kid makes fun of her, what if she asks people if she can join and they say no.( which happens every day ).
This year I've tried calming caffeine free tea telling her it's anti-anxiety tea to help her before school and at bedtime; it worked for a little while and naturally stopped working.
I have an older daughter who became a lab rat all through her childhood for different add drugs until I put a stop to it because the school kept saying nothing worked; and the side affects were awful talking about wanting to die at the age of 10 , so that was the last straw for me; she grew out of add at the end of middle school finishing high school and getting her diploma.
I will not put Susan through what I put my oldest through with different drugs. So for the last month I've tried something different, the placebo effect. Remember candy buttons? for the last 6 months I've bought candy button candy using just the orange, pink and yellow ones I've put them in an empty pill bottle (label removed) and told them that its a new stress pill for kids. The candy buttons have a slight after taste to make it believable. For the last 6 months she's been able to go out the door without crying . She still has the worries of " what if no one will play with her" but at least she's able to face the day.
Watching her be so lonely tears my heart apart, so I play barbies countless times, and go fish with her, but its not the same. She'll sit on the couch and her face tells how lonely she is; she won't want to talk about it cause once she cries she has a hard time stopping. Usually I can get her to admit she wants someone to play with and then we'll go play barbies.
I take her to the park so she can be with others and she will ask try talking with them and as soon as she does they're like what's wrong with your voice? and walk away from her. It happens all the time, she's to the point where she doesn't want to go anymore... even so she never stops trying to make a friend. it breaks my heart and I hurt so much for her.

Sounds like your a wonderful mother to be there like that for your daughter. That all can be hard.
