My cousin died. Doing Her Funeral Tomorrow

My distant cousin died.  Her mother was a sister to my grandmother.  She was 92.  Her son and I used to play together when we were kids.  I saw her at a Doctor's office a couple of months ago and she was glad to see me.  It had been quite a while since I had seen her.  She was with her nephew.  I got a phone call, that she was in ICU at the local hospital so, I immediately went to see her.  Even in her weakened state, she still had her sense of humor.  She said she knew she didn't have long, due to the congestive heart failure she had but, she said when the Lord calls me home, I want you to preach my funeral.  You can say some good words over me or bad ones, it doesn't matter then, she laughed.  I joked with her and we had prayer together and I told her I would be back to see her in a few days.
I went back to the Hospital a few days later and, as I was waiting for the elevator, the door opened and she said, get on, they are moving me, come go with me.  I got on the elevator and we went to the 4th floor.  I waited till they got her in bed and comfortable, then I went in.  We talked about family, my mom, her mom, my twin brother and my older sister.  She was still joking and she said, I guess I'll just hang around till the Lord calls me and when He does, I'm going home.  We had prayer again together and she thanked me for coming to see her. She thanked me for what I had done for the little church her mom attended. she asked me about song books, if we still sang the old hymns, etc.  I told her, yes we do.  That made her very happy.
She was a sweet little woman and was blessed with 92 years.  Up until the last couple of months of her life, she was able to live alone in her little house in the country and she said the Lord had been good to her.  It was a priviledge and an honor to know Velva Rose and, I hope I can give her honor tomorrow, when I do her funeral.
