My Computer Search Ends In Victory!

December has been a hectic month. The worst part of it centered around my having to get a new computer. What should have been an easy choice, turned out to be anything but that.
My initial intention had been to get a laptop. I tried using one that my sister had, and I did not seem to have any trouble with it. With that in mind, I decided to get a Toshiba laptop, but when I tried using one here at home I found that it was almost impossible for me to reach the keyboard.
Not only was I disappointed in my inability to use the laptop computer, but I became torn between making a choice between a PC and a Mac. Although I’ve been using a PC for the last 13 years, my mind kept going back to the first computer I ever had, which was a Mac. Something inside me said that I would never be happy again unless I got another Mac.
With that in mind, I made arrangements to see my sister and go to a mall near where she lives. While we were there, we went to an Apple Store so that I could look at Mac computers.
One of the store managers spent nearly half an hour with me as I thoroughly examined one of their computers. He answered all my questions, and I knew then and there that I really wanted to get a Mac computer. However, I told my sister that I wanted to go home and think about it for a while.
The next thing that I heard was the sound of “whack” as her hand struck the tabletop. She wanted to know what there was for me to think about. I said that it cost a lot of money, and that I wanted to consider everything before making a final decision.
How long did I intend on waiting before making a decision, she asked me. I said a couple of months, until either February or March. I said that if I still wanted the computer by then, that I would probably get one. That did not go over very well with her.
She said there was enough money to pay for the computer right then and there. My brother had sent the money that he had owed me this year, And I’ve been saving up some of my own money, which she said would cover the rest of the cost.
To my astonishment, my sister reached into her purse and pulled out a Visa card, which she gave to the store manager and she told him that we would take the Mac computer. In a kind way, my sister said that I was driving the whole family crazy trying to decide upon what type of computer to get, and that they did not really mind that, but they really wanted me to get one that would make me happy.
Because I knew that further argument would be futile, I agreed to take the computer. The one I selected needed to have some special software installed, so the store manager said that he would make arrangements to have Apple install all of the software for me, and ship it directly to my apartment.
For most of the past week I’ve been trying to get used to my new computer. The operating system is much different from that of a PC, and, yes, there is a learning curve, but I’m determined that I will overcome it in a short length of time.
This is the first document I have written on my new computer. I have been using some voice recognition software known as Dragon Dictate, which types everything for me at the sound of my voice. A few odd things have been happening here and there, such as a strange letter or two popping up for no apparent reason. I do not know what is causing this, but sooner or later, I will figure out why this is happening and put a stop to it.
I want to express my sincere thanks to those friends here on Daily Strength who took the time to try and help me figure out exactly what would be the best computer for me. If I bought every computer that was recommended, I could probably open up my own computer store. I am sincerely grateful to everyone who helped me, and if I did not get the computer that someone recommended, I hope that they will not take it personally.
