My children make me happy
As I sit here at 2:30 in the morning I am cherishing the moments I had with both my kids today. (Thank you Jackie for making me look at my blessings in the "here and now"). Why am I up at 2:30 - well my son was driving the awful "beast" (the piece of crap truck my stbx gave me to drive) and it broke down on him. He called me at 1am, woke me up, to come and get him. It's like 4 below 0 here in Michigan and just sitting for those 15 minutes or so he was freezing by the time I got there. But, now it's 2:30 and he and I have been talking and laughing ever since. What a blessing that is!!!!! It's his 19th birthday tomorrow, which is actually today already, and he is a happy kid. Not just because it's his birthday, but happy in general. I even told him that he seemed really happy, and he agreed that he was. I think my progress has something to do with that. Both of my kids are much more relaxed and happy these days, as I've mentioned before, and I'm positive it's because I am much more relaxed too. Also, I make sure they only see the happy part of me now. They've seen me in so much pain these last 9 months, it's had a negative affect on them and it's up to me to show them that I'm ok. If I'm ok then they are ok. Anyway, after sitting with him and talking and laughing I have this wonderful happiness in me right now. No worries of the future, no pain from the past. Actually, if my stbx was here sleeping, I don't think this moment between me and my son would have happened. Even my son mentioned tonight that he and I are much closer than we were before and he's right. Another blessing to come out of this. Also, today my daughter was home to do laundry and she and I had dinner together after I got home from work. She had to get back to college, but we got to spend some "girl time" before she left. She is much less animated with her feelings than my son is, but I've noticed she hugs me tighter and longer these days. She and I have definately gotten closer since my stbx left. I asked her if she was happy (you know, in general) and she said yes. What more can a mom ask for. Another blessing to count. The thing I'm seeing is that although I've always spent time with my kids, the time we spend together now has more quality to it. We've had a good, open relationship since day one, but I'm seeing the "adult" relationship starting between the 3 of us. Even with each other they are better. Would this "adult" relationship be happening if their dad was still here? Probably, but I don't think this bond we have would be as strong as it is now. Although my stbx and I didn't have a strong enough bond (obviously since he chose to leave) and he didn't have a strong enough bond with the kids (once again because he chose to leave them too), the bond that the 3 of us are forming is good and strong - forever. The greatest blessing of all as far as I'm concerned. I wanted to get this good feeling tonight written down so I can look back on it and remind myself that my life's blessings are happening in the here and now. God is working blessings into my life and it's up to me to take the time to not only notice them, but to appreciate them as well.

What an awesome journal. I can just sense such a deep, contentment in your journal. The times with your kids, the acceptance of where you are! I am feeling the love! I am so happy for you. God truly does take what has happened to us and made our lives better. Love that! Love you!
How wonderful. Who would have thought that going out in the middle of the night would turn into something so positive? You have been blessed. Hugs my friend.
I was touched by your Journal entry. The feelings you shared and the reflections about how your relationship with your children has grown stronger is just one more indication of God\'s Tender Mercies. We ALL have so much to be thankful for -- even in the worst of times. Don\'t lose sight of that. God is with you ALL THE TIME, Chrissy.
WOW
Alright Chrissy!!!! Gratitude - YES. Gratitude is so healing, positive - it will set you free of the depression, the hopelessness all the pain you\'ve been suffering from for so very long. Every day count those blessing and give thanks for each one and you will feel better and better. Your new life is here, and it\'s already happier and healthier than the old life. Keep the focus on the positives - like those awesome kids!
You are a Wonderful Woman and Mother.

Jeane
Chrissy what a positive journal. You are blessed. It is important to realize what good we have in our lives even though our stbx\'s have left. That is my goal for this year. Be happy with my life as it is now. My wonderful children, my mother, my friends, my job. Just because he has left does not make our lives worse.
I am going to concentrate on that so much more than I have these past 9 months. You keep remembering tonight\'s good feelings.
