My body speaks!
I looked at the thermometer outside and it said 0 degrees. Told myself yesterday that I would either run or walk 2 miles today but I just didn't have life enough to go. I asked my body why and this is what my body said:
"You had me in overdrive for 20 years when you worked 2 jobs and ran 4 miles or more nearly every single day! I took you 26.2 miles in the "96 Boston Marathon and never complained except when I hit the wall but still I kept going! It was what you wanted and I gave in to you.
Even when you later abused me with drugs and alcohol, I could have thrown in the towel and given up on you but I didn't! I made your doctor think she saved your life when you were in the hospital for 3 days with renal failure. I was just giving your kidneys a break by shutting them down for a few days otherwise, you would have had far worse problems! Plus that got peoples attention and got the ball rolling to getting you the kind of help you really needed!
So don't make me do things I don't feel like doing anymore, I have been good to you and I need a rest. Have you looked in the mirror lately? There is a sign on your forehead that says, "Do not disturb"! It is written in wrinkles! Sorry but this body needs an early retirement, I think I have earned it.
It's been a busy life, my friend and you need to stop and smell the roses and enjoy it a little more. So what if your a little overweight! You still look pretty good for a man your age.
Peace my friend! Now I need a nap!"
