My Aunt
My aunt is really something. One of my mom's younger sisters(Mom was the oldest in the family) she's the only aunt I have left. When my mom died, she and her husband became my parents,,,always calling to check on me and giving me rides to or from work when I had car trouble. She was the medical person in the family. Her only medical knowledge came from being a doctor's assistant. She knew all the doctors in town it seemed and had opinions of all of them. If anyone was going to a new doctor, she was consulted. If we had an ailment, she was the first to diagnose it before we went to a doctor just to make sure the doctor didn't treat us for the wrong thing or suggest an over the counter drug that might help. She's always been feisty and is proving it now since she has fallen into bad health herself. In her late 80s she has spent weeks in the hospital and is now home with her daughter living with her. But even with her own problems, she still calls to check on me. As you know, I'm on a diuretic to get the swelling in my legs down. Well, she found out about it and sent her daughter over with potassium tablets and capsules and diuretic tablets left over from her and her husband's hospital stays so I can save money. Her family has always done this. My mom included. If anyone in the family has left over pills, they're given to a family member that needs them. Now, I have what looks to be mega size capsules and tablets. There's a big blue potassium capsule almost big enough to choke a horse. Anybody know what an MEQ is? It's a measurement. Don't think I'm going to take them, but I'm curious about the MEQ. My aunt,,,who couldn't love her.

I have several feisty family members... my fathers one younger sister immediatley springs to my mind. Here was a woman who had had a quadruple bypass surgery and was chasing us across the lawn. We let her catch us because we thought she\'d have a heart attack right in front of us! She had to have another bypass surgery and told me that right then she\'d decided that she would live every day of the rest of her life living it to the fullest. And she did! I really miss her. Thank goodness i\'ve got some other aunts just like her (her siblings). My fathers family is all cooky, lol. I wouldn\'t trade them for the whole world. Thanks for letting me share.
