My 33rd Anniversary Trip

Woke up Wednesday morning feeling anxious not knowing whether or not I should go, had mixed feelings.  I packed and did a few last minute things.  My daughter Kristy called and I was crying like a baby.  She told me it would be ok and she would be here in a little bit to pick me up.  So off we went met Donna in Hammond to eat at Cracker Barrel and then continued on to our journey to Jackson, Ms.  We arrived around 8:30 p.m. sat up and talked a while you know women.  Woke up Thursday morning at 4:30a.m. to go to Canton, Ms. for the craft show, but first stop was Krispy Kreme donuts.  Arrived at the craft show it was still dark, Kristy couldn't believe that people were shopping with flashlights.  She was amazed at how large the craft show was.   We ate chicken on a stick at 9:30 a.m. I know sorta early but when you have been up since 4:30 it was like lunch time.  Kristy used her first port a let, it was an experience watching my girly girl attempt to go in, the men were killing themselves laughing.  Here she is miss priss and can't imagine having to use this.  LOL.  We went to the car to eat and she spilled her drink all over.  We had a great time.  Back to Jackson to meet Susan my other exsister-in-law.  We went eat Mexican and then off to shopping as Donna decided to stay and needed clothes for a few more days.  Woke up the next morning and off we went to Memphis, TN.  First stop was the famous Rendezvous Restaurant, known for their ribs.  It was absolutely delicious.  Once again the famous drink spill, this time Donna spilt her drink all over herself.  There was a large table of men there that were all excited and dressed in their red garb for the Ole Miss game the following day, they took a picture asked us to take it with them but we didn't.  Our waiter was amazing he was a great guy offered for him to come home with us, he said don't tempt me, LOL.  Then off it was to the Heartbreak Hotel to check in.  Walked into the lobby and Donna and Kristy were in heaven.  The lobby was decorated with gorgeous chaise lounges and Donna and Kristy couldn't stop posing and taking pictures.  Then it was off to Graceland and the tour.  Donna hadn't brought her camera so she used mine and boy did she use it.  She took a picture of any and everything Elvis probably never had a bigger fan.  We had a great time.  Back to the hotel to get ready for the evening.  We  went downtown to the Peabody Hotel and it was packed, they had a man playing the piano and people were just sitting around drinking having a great time.  Next we went to eat dinner we had reservations at Texas de Brazil.  It is a first class restaurant that serves 5 course meals, Donna and Kristy didn't want to stay as they said they would never eat that much food I told them I didn't care it was all about the experience.  And what a great experience it was.  Salad bar was huge, soup was crawfish bisque, they had cheese balls, appetizer fried bananas and then the main courses.  The guys walk around with skewers of meat, filet mignon wrapped in bacon, chicken breast wrapped in bacon, flank steak, lamb, roast, turkey, sirloin too many to name but a great experience.  The deserts were delicious Carrot Cake, Cheese Cake, Chocolate Cake we each had to have a different one.  But absolutely delicious they liked to flipped when they saw the bill but it was worth every penny so different and unique I loved it.  We then went to Beale Street to see the sights and the teenagers were doing acrobats down the streets for the people cheering them on flipping was amazing.  We walked past Coyote Ugly bar, Kristy wasn't to impressed she expected it to be like the movie.  They had one girl dancing that is if you call it that, sorta spastic looking but anyway if they had 15 patrons in the bar they had plenty.  We rode the Horse and Buggy Carriage it was all lit up and we were given the tour around town it was beautiful.  Then it was back to our hotel for a nite cap and off to bed.  Woke up the next morning and headed toward Oxford, MS for the Ole Miss tailgating party and the game.  Arrived at Ole Miss, so unlike LSU, the students are all dressed to kill.  The girls  are in their Dresses with Heels, some with cowboy boots, the guys some had on coats, some had on ties, some bow ties, it was pretty fancy for a football game.  The tents were all on top of each other and if you chose to drink you could not be on the walkway as it wasn't allowed.  The students, parents, and fans were all so well behaved weren't loud and obnoxious like Louisiana fans.  We truly did enjoy it.  Then it was off to the game we had great seats on the 35 yard line and row 15 couldn't have asked for better.  The Pre-game show was beautiful and so was the halftime show.  The game was nice but we left at halftime as we had 2 1/2 hr. drive back to Jackson, MS.  When we left the score wasn't bad but by the time we got home it was horrible.  Sunday morning we got up and off to breakfast at Broken Egg Restaurant, it was delicious and another first.  Then it was back to reality and the trip back home.  All in all I can say we had a fabulous trip and a lot of first for me.  I truly did enjoy it and the company was amazing.  Looking forward to the next road trip.  Tink
