If I had known that others my age were going through the same challenges in playing their instrument, such as finding motivation to practice, working on certain techniques, to exploring new repertoire, I may have been a very different musician than I am today. Our music teachers are all tertiary qualified from renowned universities and possess a high level of musical certification. They are personally selected by our Director, making sure each teacher share the same musical and educational values as our mission statement. Our music teachers are dedicated to learning about your personal musical goals and helping you to achieve them. All teachers have undergone extensive interviews and background checks to be qualified to join our music faculty. Not only are they highly qualified musicians and specialised on their instruments, but it is their extensive teaching experience and their warm personalities that allow them to become great role models for students at our school.
We also offer Music Innovation to small groups of students who elect to learn Music on a deeper level. Glen Waverley Primary School also participates in The Victorian State School Spectacular each year. This allows our students to experience a production at a professional standard. With 20 years teaching experience and a passion for educating young people in R.A.D. classical ballet, Jacinta open her school in January 2017 and so, the Jacinta Murphy School of Dance was born.
Our aim is to provide an enjoyable, motivating and healthy way of learning in your music lessons. We make it a priority to get to know you on a personal level and to become familiar with your personal musical needs and goals in order to achieve them. In the classroom students explore beat, rhythm, pitch, melody and composition through singing, body percussion, movement and sight-reading music. Students also use and learn a variety of instruments including keyboards, guitars, ukuleles, xylophones and percussion.
He has been able to learn techniques that his previous teacher weren't able to teach and we are very happy with Scott's teaching method. Students ages 6-12 years old are suited for our Group Piano Lessons. On Thursday the 6th of November, we hosted our annual New Families Afternoon Tea in the gymnasium. The event was a wonderful opportunity for families to come together, make new connections, and grow friendships within our school community. Congratulations to our newly elected 2026 student leaders who were formally inducted into their leadership positions at our school's assembly on Monday 8th December 2025. Congratulations to our 2025 Term Four Principal Learning Award recipients who were presented with their award certificate at a special end of term whole school assembly on Friday 19th December 2025.
