muscle biopsy is done, gi problems continue
Well, I had my muscle biopsy yesterday. I see the surgeon on the 23rd for the results and a check up. Hopefully they will get some useful information out of it but I'm not holding my breath. The procedure itself went fine. They mixed me up a nice little cocktail and ran it thru my iv and I didnt feel a thing. After the local anesthetic wore off though, YOWZA!! I was hurting pretty good last night. They sent me home with a pain med too and I applied ice of and on which helped. Its still pretty tender but its better than it was yesterday. They said the first few days would be the worst.
My gastritis is still continuing. I dont really think the Zantac is doing much. Going to try Pepcid next I guess. I'm not really sure if I need to give the Zantac more than just a few days to see if its gonna work or if it should help pretty quickly if its going to. It kind of seems like it should work fairly quickly if it will. We still arent sure if the gastritis is from the DM or the steroid. Once I start to ween off the steroid (which should be within the next couple of weeks) hopefully we will know a little more what is causing it. I have noticed I am starting to have swelling in my feet which I am also attributing to the steroid.
As far as my overall pain goes, well...its better than it was 3 weeks ago thats for sure but it aint gone. Its hard to know what to expect really. Sometimes I think I am just expecting too much too soon.
I am to go in this week for repeat bloodwork. Based on how that looks, my rheum wants to start weening me off the Medrol and starting the Methotrexate. I'm so dreading that. I am just so sensitive to medications. I dont want to start on too high of a dose. I am so interested in the injectable vs the pill form. It seems like there are fewer side effects that way.
This is just all so crazy. It seems that as some things get better, other symptoms creep up. I also get these weird, random "twitches" in my body. It feels as if it will get worse before it gets better sometimes.
