Much better than I thought......
It helped that I wasn't anxious. It helped that the staff was warm and very professional. It helped that I had my hubby there, of course. And it helped knowing that I was in a top notch hospital.
What I found even more interesting is the stereotactic biopsy was more uncomfortable than the surgery prep and surgery itself. I even have less pain now the day after. This time I do have pain meds but I've only taken two pills (in stages - cut two in half) throughout the night before bed.
Everything would have ran smoothly if it weren't for one person. Either she was new, didn't know what she was doing, or was nervous, or something. I didn't "feel" any confidence coming from her and it didn't help what she was saying or doing. For instance, I had to have a procedure to prep me that involved a needle. I didn't know I was bleeding and that was fine. I didn't have to know. It's expected. But the tech asked me if I had taken any blood thinners and said I had a lot on my gown so - in my mind I am thinking I'm not doing well. So I ask the other person (a nurse) if I was bleeding more than other patients and she said no and reassured me that I was fine - "perfect". Subconsciously, however, I know it bothered me because soon after that I felt like I was going to pass out. I know I would have been fine if she hadn't said anything. Well, at least, "Patience" (yes - that is her name) knew how to help me recover from that and then I was fine. Then when it's time to go - she saw some blood that had dripped on my jean pant leg. Well, then she felt it was her mission to wipe it off for me. She was trying. In the process, however, she meant to pinch my pant leg to help her wipe it better but she got a hold of my skin. Ouch! Not once but twice! I have a bruise. No where else (yet) but on my leg! The whole scene was almost comical and has given something for me to talk about! I certainly had to have patience with Patience! LOL!
