MS Flair
Over the last 4-5 weeks I have slowly gotten worse. The muscles in my bowel were not working together, making it harder to go. Then the muscle weakness & numbness in my legs. The worse for me was the numb tight band around the bottom of my chest (just below my boob's on where the bra strap goes around) I could not move those ribs so taking a deep breath was impossible. My doc gave me the high dose steroids, they worked my bowel was back to normal & that tight band was gone. The bowel problem came back after a few days (I think that is my most hated symptom next to the breathing difficulty). Then this past Wed. I was in so much pain through the night before. On Wed morning when the PSW came around to get me ready for the day I told her I did not want to wash up. Only to get my itch cream on & DO. Get dressed & get me in my chair. The pain was nerve pain. From the chest down it felt like I was sitting in scalding hot water. Pain killers did not help. After lunch I was sitting in my chair with it tilted back & I got very numb very quickly. Up to the bottom of my chest it was getting hard to breath. Also my right arm was also very numb. I had a new symptom my right side of my face was a bit numb & my forehead. That was a new symptom for me. I was told by my MS doc that new symptoms meant a new attack. Later in the day I had an appointment with my physiologist I told her what was going on & she helped me through the feelings. It is hard to go through. She was also concerned & came back to my room with me. She wanted us to talk to my nurse. She was very empathetic about what I was going through. We worked out they were going to answer my bell using the intercom so if I was having trouble breathing they would come quickly. I saw my the next day & was started on another course of high dose steroids, the last dose was only two weeks ago. I am afraid that the steroids are waring off quicker & quicker. But there is a possibility it was a new attack & the steroids did not ware off that quickly. I do not know what to hope for. Good news is the steroids are working already, I got more feeling & more movement.

I am so sorry your going through an attack, I can relate to many of your symptoms as I have had the exact same ones myself and I know they suck and can be scary, hang in there and wishing you a speedy recovery.
I love your attitude with the charity, instead of giving yourself reasons why you can\'t, you seem to give yourself reasons why you can! your an inspiration to others.
Keep up the great work!
I\'m so sorry to hear you have had this set back. Thanks for explaining it so well in your journal. I will include you in my prayers each night for so many reasons and in many ways. May your higher power watch over you and keep you safe. Hang in there girl, talk to the physiologist and let her help you work through your feelings about this new development. Keep us informed too please. I\'ll be thinking of you.
