MS Epidemic
Ann Romney, Newt Gingrich's second wife, Michelle Obama's dad... seems that there is a spate of sufferers.. here, I just read yesterday that one of our fairly well known authors, Gillian Mears, has MS and is in a wheelchair.
Many years ago I taught at the same school where Gillian had been a student. She had married her english teacher and then gone on to become an author.
I wonder whether MS is more common or whether any news about it just catches my attention.

I have noticed that here lately. I think it just catches my eye now whenever I hear or see \"MS\".
I truly think that MS is more commonly being diagnosed these days as hard as that is to believe from so manyof our members that cann\'t get a dx. . MS has been known about and been around for a long, long time, but has not been published about like it is today. It used to be a silent disease, where when you were diagnosed, the doctor told you \"you have MS, adios\" because there was nothing a doctor could do for you. Now days, at least within the last 12-15 or so years ago, there are disease modifying drugs and drugs for symptom management. Still no cure, but something that could be done to help the MS patient. I also think with the internet explosion, there is more \"in the news\" about MS than there ever has been. These all combined make it seem like an epidemic, but it\'s not really. Just more people geting a dx and more spread of word about the disease combined make it seem so. JMO. Plus the fact that you are also aware of the disease because of your own situation, you are more likely to pay attention to any and every article or news bit that comes out about MS.

I once moved to a small country town and my mother said she\'d never heard of it but since I moved there it was in the news all the time!
