Moving on to IVF...officially!

Well we spoke with our RE today and I guess he was under the impression that we wanted to try another IUI from the beginning, gotta love a miscommunication! But after talking to him we decided that IVF is our best option at this point with my history and the fact that I now have a shiny cleaned up uterus!

So the plan is to stop my current BCP (i was taking them to make sure AF didn't arrive on/around surgery time), start taking them again on July 4th after a short AF visit, we will meet with the coordinators on July 15th and get a better schedule of everything but tentatively I would start my stims somewhere around the 24th of July, retrieval would fall around the 5th of August and the transfer would be the 10th. He mentioned that it's 11 days from transfer before the BETA so we would be finding out around the 21st of August.

HOLY SMOKES!! THIS IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING!!!

We have about 1/2 the total amount already saved up and have been approved for a fertility loan with a surprising low interest rate. We were thinking we would have have to dip in to the retirement plan Chris has set up but because of the taxes/fee involved with that, the loan is actually cheaper. Plus, if the first cycle is a BFN my parents have been very supportive in offering to help us financially if needed. So that heavy feeling has been lifted!!

Plus, my 30th birthday is July 28th so maybe it will be good luck that I will have my birthday right in the middle of my first IVF! EEEEEEK!

I've been so emotional today about the whole thing! I keep laughing/crying because of how happy I am that this is actually happening! We've been ttc for 4 years! Plus the amount of time DH has been deployed during those 4 years is ridiculous! I just feel like it's finally time to take a deep breath and actually allow myself to be excited to be moving on to bigger and better things!

Any pointers before going into our first IVF cycle??

So excited for you guys in doing something new! Trying to think of any advice....the shots are not as terrible as I imagined.

Thanks ladies!! I will know more after our official IVF consult on the 15th where we will get a full rundown of how everything will work. I think my biggest concern is just trying to keep the cost as low as possible...if that\'s even possible! We will soon be finding out!

For our first IVF cycle I feel like I either didn\'t understand the Docs instructions or I didn\'t place enough importance in what he was telling me when he said to take it easy. So, my personal advice based on my mistakes is, do your best to stay as stress free as possible when you start you cycle and even if the doc doesn\'t tell you this, the day of your egg retrieval leading up to the day after your actual transfer, take things super EASY as in, next to bed rest! I overdid things because I was so used to being busy and I really strained and hurt my body on top of the fact it was already super physically stressed from all the drugs and egg retrieval and all that. If I could go back and do it all over again I would have laid around all day and I would have done absolutely nothing. Keep us posted friend! *HUG!! I am so excited for you and I am cheering you on!!!
