Moving on, again (lol).
It's raining and spitting snowflakes today.... just in time for my sunflowers to peak through the dirt, lol. And I'm prepared - I have everything ready to cover up this afternoon when the temps begin to drop (it's 49 right now). So, because the dogs and I are stuck inside today (Sadie's foot is still bothering her), I'm finishing things....
At first, it was to just pull out the cross stitch I've been working on for the past 3 months. I'd stitch for an hour or two, put it away for 3 weeks, lol. Obviously not on my priority scale. Until today. I just finished it.
And as I was working on it this morning, I turned on a show I recorded on Public Broadcasting. I LOVE history. And this one was about the crash of 1929. A VERY interesting program. About people and the greed that led to it (exactly like today), and the devastation it caused. But what REALLY stuck in my mind about the story was the individual PEOPLE they talked about. The ones who were multi-millionaires who had to file bankruptcy because they only had the clothes on their backs once the crash happened... the ones that worked HARD, invested because they thought it would protect their future (get where I'm going with this?), and then had to start over - Groucho Marx being one of them - and worse, the ones that caused it, and actually made money from it.
No, I'm not going to go off about greed, lol, nor do I plan to become a money mogul. BUT, I keep thinking about "starting over" and "moving on". And one thing I have learned in my past 30 years is that you can have all the plans in the world, but it can still all change in one instant and make all those plans useless. And then when the show was over, I came across a show on Star Trek while flipping channels and it mentioned how Gene Roddenbury had a different career as a police officer before he became a writer... and even then, it wasn't easy - he had to do several attempts before he could get it rolling...
Yesterday, I got a bank notice in the mail that my payment was going up $8 to cover my escrow. Big Deal, right? But BAM, wake up call for me. Because it's a reminder that costs are ALWAYS going to rise. And my income isn't. I've been working at the same company for 10 years now and only earn $11 per hour and NO benefits - like health insurance. Bet you can tell what's wrong with this picture!
So today, I'm getting ready to MOVE ON again.... (no, not quitting my job.... yet) I have no idea where I'm going or what I'm going to do, but that's ok... been here before and that future (now my past) had some pretty incredible adventures - most of which were completely unexpected. And there are some "interesting" things to check into out there... something to do with the dogs maybe? I AM an artist, usually just sell stuff so I can clean out my storage areas, but I learned of some things recently that would enhance my art, maybe allow me to sell online at it's VALUE instead of the $30 just to get rid of it.... maybe I could combine it with the dog thing? And I'm a VERY good sales person - been doing it since I've was 12 years old - real estate interests me, but I still haven't done anything about it... but then again, maybe there's something else out there I'm just not seeing?
So yep, this week I learned once again to let things go that represent the past... to look toward the future with open eyes and see what's about to come and THIS time start taking steps toward it. It's a little scary, but those old illusions about where I am now are even scarier... so here I go...

Rain and snow and I have 90 degree heat with humidity. I would love to see your sunflowers when they are in full bloom.
You are working on yourself to get a better future. Much of what you write I know about too. Yes, there are people making money from this downturn we are in. But I\'m happy to say I\'m the one riding it out and if I\'m lucky my retirement will be okay.
My house note went up a bit this last June. It\'s about time to have the mortgage reviewed. Mine should go down a bit since I got out from under some taxes.
Explore the doors that open to you. You can always back out and find another door. That\'s what I\'ve done and life has been good. You are looking towards your future and making plans. You are going to be okay.
