moving ahead

Wish T-Man went to school today.  Same ol' same ol' - misses school a lot - whether using or not.  He has a headache and stomach doesn't feel right.  I know he's ill and not faking it but he still has A LOT of catching up to do and is still failing.  I had a tutor set up for him tonight (the only opening this guy has this week) and now I will have to cancel.  Trying not to get to wigged out about it, nothing I can do.   Missing school today doesn't help today.  Part of the reason (and it's only part of it) is because he doesn't turn his homework in!  My husband went through his backpack only to find the missing homework assignments (on the list we were given ) were done but never turned in.  Organization has always been an issue with him (last year he was diagnosed with ADD) and no matter how much we try and help him organize his school papers, it doesn't seem to help.  He reverts back to shoving all of them into one of his books.  It's so frustrating because with block scheduling, he only has really only 2 classes to keep track off.  The drugs (even though he's clean) have done a number on his brain, I believe.    The most important thing (keeping things in perspective) is that he's clean.

As long as you do it for him and he doesn\'t have natural consequences than he won\'t do it for himself (and why should he?). He has got to find a system that works for him and that he can stick to; you may not like it and it is difficult to watch him fail.....but learning this at home will make it so much easier than learning it on the job when the stakes are so much higher. This might be an excellent issue to take up in therapy.....In the meantime, it\'s great to see the really BIG green happy face! Take Care.
