MOVIN' ON!
I need a WHATEVER category, lol. Well, Aunt got my email, isn't responding again. Ya know, I had an AHA moment last night. I grew up poor, married poor, divorced poor, lol... and yet I have inner riches/blessings more than I can count because they have NOTHING to do with money. So if pissing off my Aunt means I remain poor.... WHATEVER, lol. I'm used to it. (But the challenge of going after it = growth, so I'm going to anyways)
And what that means is that while I wait for word about the inheritance, I've decided I should start moving on again without it. I'm really gonna see if I can't squeeze out some money out of my budget to get some extra education this next year; I'll start checking into the classes for real estate like I was originally planning, and just go from there. I HAD been toying with the idea of a dog boarding facility (doggie hotel and daycare), and as much as I would LOVE doing it, there are some issues that make me hesitate... Kennel cough for one. I went to the dog park this morning and my Deeder started coughing - I thought because she just pulled the leash hard - and then others at the dog park said there's been a epidemic of it recently... GREAT. So while getting Bear his shots updated today, I asked about it, and the vet gave me some antibiotics for them, just in case it was Kennel Cough, and all I could think about on the way home was these illnesses that dogs can expose other dogs to. So am I giving up on that idea? Not yet, but I'm definitely going to take time to think about it more.... and no matter what, having the education and licensing for real estate won't hurt.
And so, PEACE flows back into my life again... Yep, believe it or not, poor is good, lol. LATER!

All the boarding kennels around here require that your dog be vaccinated for Kennel Cough BEFORE you can board them. I am surprised that with all these \"dog parks\" that people don\'t just have them vaccinated as a matter of course.
Also, in this area, you have to have special zoning to have a boarding kennel. This entails a public hearing -- which means your neighbors get a chance to hear what your plans are and raise a fuss if they want to. Not sure what your neighborhood is like (aside from your loopy neighbor who caused you all the trouble) but you would definitely have to make a business plan and have the facilities to put this plan into motion. Do some research before making a decision one way or another. (I\'m sure you will) but there are other ways to make a living with your obvious love for dogs. Think outside the box!
Regarding Kennel Cough, not required here and I did get them vaccinated last year - forgot this year - and the vet said that this year\'s strain has been getting through the vaccine and is resistant to antibiotics. Luckily, though, Deeder and Sadie appear to have a minor case (just a cough or sneeze in the morning) and I\'m going to stay away from the dog park until mid-October, just in case.
Doggie Hotel - Can\'t do a kennel in my neighborhood (I could just see where that would lead, lol) - in fact, I\'d have to take the whole idea out of town. But, living next to a forest and a whole lot of privately owned vacant lots right in front of it, I\'m sure if I had the funds I could get started.
All I can say is you are simply amazing to me. What a strong and ambitious woman you are! I actually love the dog kennel idea. Kennel cough can be managed and maybe you could visit some not so local doggie day cares for some friendly aevice on what it would be like to run one of your own. I know that as long as you are not in direct competition with the kennel you may talk with, they may be perfectly happy to help you know what you are getting into.
I actually have a friend who runs one in Sioux Falls (across the state)... last Christmas he had 120 dogs! If/when I feel like I\'m ready, I\'m gonna pay him a working visit. :)
