Mourning my past self today

My husband and I have been running our own heating and air conditioning company since 2000. I'm very involved in the business, financial management and development side of it. We have recently purchased another HVAC company and have just won the contract for potentially a lot of work and growth. I have recently hired a business manager to take over my job and am trying to train him to "think" like me :) he is doing an amazing job at handling things. I am hoping I can get to a place that I can consult for our business ventures and our team can make it happen.
In my past life, I remodeled houses for 10 years. This was my greatest passion, joy and fulfillment. Since I retired from that and work with my husband now, I have remodeled a lumber company building into our new offices, remodeled our home over the years and it is killing me not to be able to continue my love. The last thing I did was build two 10 foot book cases that flank our fireplace and run crown molding in our living room. I have been wanting to paint the kitchen cabinets, but had to hire someone else to do it for us. I still need to lay a kitchen floor, but probably won't be able to.
when we bought the other company, we bought the land and building as well. The building is a strong block building that looks like it hasn't been cleaned or touched since the '70's. I have so many design and remodeling ideas in my head and I can't even clean the bathrooms!
I am feeling so sad right now knowing that the main thing in my life that gave me sheer pleasure and fulfillment will never be realized again.

that makes me sad....

I\'m right with you, TammyDiane. Even to the part about being crashed since Friday! I\'ve been in bed all day.

It\'s ok to mourn your past life, my friend! We all do it. It never stops hurting that what was our lifelong passion, is now in impossibility. I SO get that. I was in the medical field for over 30 years. I miss the hospital every single day of my life. My friends are still working.....it hurts. It really hurts.

I do believe that in the last eight years, I have been able to redefine my priorities though. A quieter life is something that I was forced into, but now realize that I\'m comfortable with it.

I pray for all of us with these devastating chronic illnesses. We feel so robbed.....it\'s just so sad.

I\'m with you!! We\'re all with you. We totally \"get\" what you are saying here.

You are in my prayers, my friend! oxo
