Mother's Day and 30 Weeks!
What an amazing weekend, except for some bad news I was given which I'll share in moment. Friday we had my 30 week dr's appointment. No u/s but I go tomorrow (Tuesday) for one w/my high risk doc. They drew blood for the glucose test so we'll see how that goes. At my last u/s at 23 weeks, baby was breach but the dr. didn't seem so worried since she still has room to move all over the place. I have been worried though since then, so I asked my dr. to feel my belly and tell me if he knew where she was. He did and he was exactly able to tell how she was positioned. Her head is now down at my pelvis, butt to the left side and curled around with arms and legs to the right side which explains all the kicking and movement I feel over there. I will be now be seeing my dr. every 2 weeks and then starting at 36 weeks, every week. I go off of lovenox injections at that time (36w) and will start taking heperin injections 3X a day (as opposed to once a day). Giving myself a shot once a day is hard enough - but 3X a day! Uh! It's okay though, totally worth it! So the appt was uneventful. I measured exactly at 30 cm and her heartrate was about 134. She's still moving around like a crazy person in there and I'm loving every minute of it!
Saturday we spent the evening with my closest college girlfriend for her birthday. Her and her husband have been trying to get pregnant for almost a year now with no success. I've been offering her advice and trying to keep her motivated. I pretty much know her monthly cycle. They have been so frustrated. I hadn't really spoken with her in a month or so becase she was on spring break (she's a teacher) and things have been busy. I had this weird feeling she had some "news" for us that night. So when we went to dinner and she ordered a martini, I knew she didn't have the news I wanted to hear. Instead, later that evening, I asked her how things were going and she finally broke down and started telling me about the miscarriage she JUST had the weekend before. OMG I was so devastated for her. She was actually in the midst of making a mother's day gift for her mom to break the news; she was taking pics of her positive pregnancy test and making a cute pic frame for her mom. Then she started the bad cramping and bleeding and by the next day she knew. All this right before Mother's Day AND her bday which fell on Mother's Day this year. How awful. She thinks she was about 4 to 6 weeks. Tuesdday was supposed to be her first dr's appointment and now she's going to confirm the miscarriage. I know she knows I completely understand what she's going through but uh, my heart just breaks for her. And in a way, I felt a little bad sitting there with my belly and all. On top of that, her sister was there too and she's pregnant as well (17 weeks)! I just know when I was going through that hard time, being around pregnant women was not that easy. I have been saying lots of prayers for her.
Sunday I really had no expectations whatsoever because, I'm not "officially" a mother yet. I had plans to sleep in, do a little laundry, then head out to my mom's where my sister and I were going to cook a nice lobster dinner. I did sleep in and was awaken by a hot cup of coffee which usually isn't abnormal that he bring me coffee in bed. I got out of bed, called my mom and started folding laundry. Then I started smelling breakfast. Nice. That's not unusual either. I was on the phone a good while when he came upstairs and kept bugging me to come eat. I was like okay God I'm coming. I get downstairs and he had a dozen red roses and a card waiting for me on the counter. Plus this wonderful breakfast spead! Eggs, hashbrowns, bagels, fresh fruit (he cut up my fav cantaloup and strawberries!) and oj. I do have to mention, he's not a flower guy. I really can't remember the last time I got flowers. It's been a few years. So the flowers and card was very nice and very unexpected. He told me that the line to buy flowers that morning was longer than the length of our house and of course, it was all men. I was like yeah, just like those men waiting til the last minute to get flowers lol. I joked with him and let him know that he set a really high precedence for next year! The afternoon and evening with my mom and sister was perfect as well. I had an absolutely wonderful mother's day. Makes me really look forward to next year's!
I do hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day as well! Such well deserved holiday. It really fits the saying that "God can't be everywhere which is why he made Moms!"
